About Us

"I am responsible. When anyone, anywhere, reaches out for help, I want the hand of AA always to be there. And for that: I am responsible."

"The Answer"

"I look into the mirror

A true reflection of me

With intention and depth

I concentrate and find it easy to see..

Where I have been...and whatever that is, it was in the past

Who I am...and that is the present

What path I am creating...and that is now.

I am grateful for all."

J M D Recovery Supporting Women in Recovery

Our Work

JMD Recovery, founded and operated by Joan McDonald, is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to supporting women in recovery throughout Palm Beach County.

We offer essential resources to help women rebuild their lives, including transportation to meetings, access to phones, networking opportunities, as well as food, clothing, outerwear, hygiene supplies, books, Bibles, and meaningful recovery tokens such as crosses.

Our work is made possible through the generosity of the community, and we are always seeking donations and sponsorships to continue this mission.

Our efforts are witnessed in Faith Church locations and through the Tree of Life Foundation in Palm Beach County.

In partnership with Rebel Recovery, we connect women with individual counseling and case management, while The Hub provides group meetings, art classes, job placement assistance, and computer access to further support each woman’s journey.

Palm Beach County Women's Recovery Support Services. Offering rides, counseling, assistance and support.

Joan's Favorite Prayers for Recovery

Serenity Prayer

Prayer of St. Francis

Footprints Prayer

God grant me the serenity To accept the things I cannot change;

Courage to change the things I can; And wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;

Enjoying one moment at a time; Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;

Taking, as He did, this sinful world As it is, not as I would have it;

Trusting that He will make all things right If I surrender to His Will;

So that I may be reasonably happy in this life And supremely happy with Him Forever and ever in the next.

Amen.

Footprints Prayer

One night I had a dream…

I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord, and
Across the sky flashed scenes from my life. For each scene I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand; One belonged to me, and the other to the Lord. When the last scene of my life flashed before us, I looked back at the footprints in the sand. I noticed that many times along the path of my life, There was only one set of footprints.

I also noticed that it happened at the very lowest
and saddest times in my life
This really bothered me, and I questioned the Lord about it.
“Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you,
You would walk with me all the way;
But I have noticed that during the
most troublesome times in my life,
There is only one set of footprints.
I don’t understand why in times when I
needed you the most, you should leave me.

The Lord replied, “My precious, precious
child. I love you, and I would never,
never leave you during your times of
trial and suffering.
When you saw only one set of footprints,
It was then that I carried you.

Prayer of St. Francis

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace,
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy;

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.

For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
